my baby is overweight at 31 weeks :(
 

I'm on my 31st week and baby weighs 3.60 pounds. My OB says the ideal weight for 31 weeks is 3.31. So my baby is overweight. Will there be any risks to my baby and during childbirth?

Why don't you ask your doctor for a diet plan? After all, it's us the mothers who give the nutrition to our baby... so what we eat affects them. Don't worry so much though. When your baby is born, and he/she is still overweight, you can also put your baby on a "diet". Breastfeeding is found to be the best solution!

You know what? The difference between the weight isn't that alarming. Having an overweight baby doesn't mean that your baby is unhealthy. But you could try to control your food intake so as your baby wouldn't get any bigger or heavier than the ideal weight for his or her age. If the baby is extremely overweight and the mom isn't doing anything about it then that's another story- an alarming story. But if you'll focus on having a healthy diet upon realizing that baby is overweight, then kudos to you dear mum-to-be! Take care...

Thank you girls!

I talked to my OB and she says my baby is fine but warns that C-Section may become an option for those with big babies if the moms can't manage a vaginal birth.

Yeah, the weight isn't that scary at all. Just don't overeat too much coz the issues of the childbirth method is just secondary. The most important thing is your baby's health. Good luck!

Gotta go on a diet girl! It still pays to have a vaginal delivery. Less time for healing and lesser cost! ;)

Thanks for those comforting words. Yes, I admit, I over-reacted. I guess this is all rooted to the mixed emotions I feel before giving birth- worry and excitement!
