Pregnant and vegan??

I've got a colleague who's vegan and just found out that she's 2 months pregnant. Any ideas on vegan diets for the pregnant ones? Thanks in advance!

Vegans don't eat meat so perhaps they need to increase their protein by eating vegetables and soy products.

Ditto to Baha, more foods which contain lotsa proteins.

You might wanna check this link out. Vegan or not we all should be very careful in the foods we eat.

I guess there's no problem with regards to their diet as I feel like vegan diet is much healthier. :) If she's a vegan for quite a long time then all she has to do is manage the quantity of what she eats as she's already consuming for two. If she's just a new vegan then she'll definitely adjust and be wary on the stuff she eats.

If dairy products are a no-no for her, these could be a good source of calcium:

- broccoli and other green, leafy vegetables.
- nuts, sesame seeds
- dried fruits
- tofu
- soya products like yoghurts and soya milks
