Meds that are OK while breastfeeding.
 

I'm having flu-like symptoms now and I called in to work for a couple of days already. My consultation is scheduled next week, Monday. That's the latest, grrr!!! Anyway, I need advice on the meds which are fine to take while nursing my baby. I'm a bit wary of just taking OTC pills as it may harm my baby.

From what I know of, Ibuprofen and Ciprofloxacin are safe to be taken while nursing.

Antihistamines like Claritin and Tylenols are safe I believe.

Oh, quick question though, how about meds for Diarrhea? Are they safe while nursing?

Yup, Ibuprofen is safe. I usually take it while nursing. Talk to your doctor about this, especially when we're talking about antibiotics taken during nursing.

I remember my doctor giving her ok to Advil and Motilium to me when I was still nursing.

I guess Loperamide is absolutely safe while nursing. Still best to consult your doctor first before taking a regular, OTC med.

Loperamide is safe to take while nursing as per my OB GYN.

I believe that there are antibiotics which definitely a no-no while nursing so talk to you doctor before taking one.
