Is it normal to have strong abdominal pains in 12th weeks of pregnancy?

I am 12 weeks pregnant and today I had a really strong and extremely painful cramping feeling in my abdomen accompanied with nauseating feeling, It is still paining, but not as bad as it was in the morning. Is it normal? Or, these symptoms may be pointing to some kind of infection? I am a bit concerned, and looking forward to some serious answers.

The symptoms don’t seem very normal as a very severe abdominal pain during first trimester is not normal. I recommend visiting your gynae right away and get yourself checked. It may turn out to be nothing serious, but taking precaution never harms.
