Default Sodas / Soft drinks while Pregnant

Any ideas on the negative effects sodas could give to a pregnant mom and her baby? I NEVER drank sodas in my first pregnancy, why is it that some preggy moms do and have healthy babies later on? So unfair...

I drink sodas on my 2nd trimester but pretty much avoided it during my 1st tri. There's no harm in drinking sodas as long as it's done in moderation.

Doctors say it would better to limit on diet sodas... artificial sweeteners are bad for the baby. But if you just want a can of Coke for the day? Do so! Just don't drink 1L of it a day and I guess it would be fine. Everything in moderation!

I think if you do everything in moderation, it should be fine. I don't think a bottle of coke a day would really hurt...

My mum says it's ok. Like 1 glass of soda a day or better, every other day. It's difficult to suppress certain cravings especially when expecting.

It'll be harmful if you're drinking too much sodas. If it's in moderation, it's ok. But ideally, you should be eating healthily during pregnancy. That means ZERO on sodas and other non-nutritious foods. It's just 9 months on pure focus to your well-being and to your baby's health.

Yeah, seems that our sweet-tooth cravings during pregnancy are hard to resist. But just to be on the safe side, it's best to be avoided. But we might wallow in self-pity when we do so. LOL!!

I believe sodas are addictive. That is, when you've stopped drinking them your appetite for them goes down. Try to find a healthier and more natural alternative. Yes, sweets should be eaten in capital "Moderation" but I'd go for the sweets that are natural rather than yummy treats that are oozing with preservatives- it's a "lose-lose" situation.

Yeah, they are addictive. I've realized that when I went to a diet. I loved sodas but when I stopped for a month, I never "missed" its taste.

Oh, is that so? Well, I'm not really a die-hard cola fanatic but I admit, there are times that I'd opt grabbing a bottle of Coke rather than sipping a healthy fruit shake...
