Re: Antibiotics, Can it be harmful for my baby?
There is no place to panic because Proteus Mirabilis is a gram negative bacteria and it comes along with Escherichia coli. It is a part from the normal flora in the human gastrointestinal tract and also a part of the Enterobacteriacaece family. The most usual infection involving Proteus mirabilis happens when the bacteria move to the urethra and urinary bladder. The antibiotics are not harmful for the baby; they are prescribed to stop the infection to spread around. It is good that you drink Cranberry tea a lot. You should keep doing that. Plenty of liquids will help you eject the bacteria through the urine. You have to be more patient, take the prescribed therapy and the burning and painful feeling when you urinate is going to pass because the antibiotics will solve the infection. You do not have to worry so much you are at the beginning of your pregnancy so you may try to relax.
